Today we'll be making a beautiful looking bow using two different ribbons. Our gift is also wrapped in a special way to give it extra details.

Materials you need for this are:

  • Wrapping paper - we used an old music sheet for this
  • Wide ribbon - we used a 4cm wide ribbon for this
  • Thin ribbon - we used a 0.5cm wide ribbon for this
  • Double sided tape
  • Scissors

Step 1: To wrap the gift a little differently, we're wrapping each side of the gift and following the flow of it to create these lovely folds on the outside.

As you go along each side remember to tape it down so it's secure. You also want to make sure the creases along the edges are crisp to give it the best look.

Once you get to the last side you will probably have quite a bit left over, but don't cut it off! Keep following the flow of the gift until there's nothing left and tape it down. This style of wrapping adds a lot of texture and detail very quickly and easily.

Step 2: Now that the gift is wrapped you should measure out two pieces of wide ribbon to wrap around your gift in a cross formation and tape them in place.

Step 3: Cut out and loop three varying sizes of the wide ribbon and tape them on top of each other, starting with the biggest at the bottom, ascending to the smallest.

Step 4: Cut a thin piece of ribbon to wrap around this new bow and tape it at the bottom.

Step 5: Cut another thin piece of ribbon to wrap all the way around your gift, tape it at the top then tape on the bow and you're done!

On December 4th we'll be hosting a gift wrapping workshop in collaboration with L.F. Markey at their East London Dalston Lane store, click here for more information on the tickets.

We'll also have a new gift wrapping tutorial video out every Friday, and other origami tutorials out every Tuesday in the run up to Christmas.
