ORIGAMI CENTREPIECES

This week I made a minimal looking origami centrepiece. The original moth design is based on an Actias Luna Moth and was created by Michael LaFosse,  published in “Michael LaFosse’s Origami Butterflies” along with 24 more beautiful designs.

I made them using 30gsm bible paper, with a Westeros map printed onto them to celebrate the Game of Thrones finale. The paper is very thin and has some transparency to it, which shows the print on the reserve side to give it a nice effect.

My idea was for a minimal looking dining room table centrepiece, I achieved this look by gluing the moths onto bamboo sticks and using wooden clothes pegs as stands. The moths alone would also make a nice decoration for walls or gift wrapping.
