Original Japanese Art Ukiyo-e Tote Bag - Lovers
ARTIST COLLABORATION TOTE BAG
Ukiyo-e Animal Series: Many personified animals are drawn in Ukiyo-e. Animals besides pets blended well into human's daily life. To see a human's personality in the animal's behaviour was common in old times. We would like to represent the same thing but by a contemporary artist.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Nix Ren is an artist/illustrator based in London. She awarded 3*3 International Illustration Student Gold Medal, THE MAGAZINE OF CONTEMPORARY ILLUSTRATION in 2017.
ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATION
Cats were probably the most beloved animal by Ukiyo-e artists. Ukiyo-e cats were frequently depicted walking upright, doing human things like eating Japanese foods, dancing, playing etc. The illustration is inspired by Japanese Ukiyo-e “Thread of the Present-day Love Letters Compared” by Katsukawa Shuncho.
