CHRISTMAS GIFT WRAPPING - DAY 1 - RIBBON WRAPPED GIFT
Share
For the next 30 days will we be posting Japanese themed gift wrapping tutorials and accessory making on our blog to get you ready for Christmas. To start off the month we're got this stunning ribbon wrapped gift. Video tutorial linked at the end of the blog!
The materials you need are:
- Wrapping paper - we're using our Japanese Yuzen Washi Paper which you can find here
- Two sheets of ribbon - any ribbon will do, we got ours from paperchase
- Extra paper - we're using a cut off of our Japanese Yuzen Washi Paper which you can find here, you can use any type of paper you want for this
- Tape - double sided works best to give it a neat finish, you could also use glue
- Scissors
Step 1: Wrap your gift in the paper and make creases along all of the edges.
Step 2: Tuck in the corners at the end to create a triangle.
Step 3: Fold the triangle onto the object, tape, then repeat on the other side.
Step 4: Tape your extra piece of paper on top, this part can be any width you like, we made ours just over a third of the width of the object.
Step 5: Repeat step two of the reverse side ends then fold the triangle on top of the extra paper, tape.
Step 6: Wrap around one sheet of ribbon and tape at the back.
Step 7: Create the bow by making one loop in the ribbon, tape, make two more loops underneath the first taping both down as you go, cut off the the access ribbon and tape the end at the bottom.
If you have enough ribbon left over, you can wrap it around the bow and tape it at the bottom.
And you're done!
On December 4th we'll be hosting a gift wrapping workshop in collaboration with L.F. Markey at their East London Dalston Lane store, click here for more information on the tickets.
We'll also have a new gift wrapping tutorial video out every Friday, and other origami tutorials out every Tuesday in the run up to Christmas.
