CHRISTMAS GIFT WRAPPING - DAY 3 - JAPANESE KIMONO STYLE GIFT WRAP

CHRISTMAS GIFT WRAPPING - DAY 3 - JAPANESE KIMONO STYLE GIFT WRAP

For day three we'll be making a traditional Japanese Kimono style gift wrap.

Materials you need for this are:

  • Wrapping paper
  • Ribbon
  • Tape
  • Scissors

Step 1: To measure your wrapping paper for the gift, it needs to be able to wrap around the gift vertically, and be three times the length horizontally.

Step 2: Wrap about a third of the gifts width and crease along the sides.

Step 3: Tuck in the sides and make a crease along the triangles.

Step 4: Fold the flaps on to your item and secure with tape.

Step 5: Fold the bigger flaps on top and tape. You may have excess paper here at the bottom which you'll need to cut off.

Step 6: After trimming any spare paper it should look like this, make sure all the flaps are secured in place.

Step 7: Tie a ribbon around the gift and you're done!

On December 4th we'll be hosting a gift wrapping workshop in collaboration with L.F. Markey at their East London Dalston Lane store, click here for more information on the tickets.

We'll also have a new gift wrapping tutorial video out every Friday, and other origami tutorials out every Tuesday in the run up to Christmas.
